Wandsworth Radio launches Female Friday this week!

Wandsworth Radio is delighted to announce the launch of our ‘Female Friday’, four hours worth of completely dedicated programming for the women of our great borough.

She Speaks is hosted by News Editor Chloe De Save.

Starting this Friday 2nd March, our long-standing programme SHE SPEAKS, hosted by our News Editor Chloe De Save, has many local, important women on the show and regularly has a large focus on the women of our local area. Chloe hosts ‘She Speaks’ from 12pm-2pm each Friday afternoon.

Then our long-standing volunteer Nicolette Wilson-Clarke takes the studio over from 2pm with her new show, Mind Your Business. A lively and inspiring radio show celebrating women entrepreneurs from Wandsworth and beyond, Nicolette provides expert guidance and stimulating conversation about the daily challenges of running a successful business. Plenty of guests are already lined up for March, so tune into this from 2pm-3pm.

Ayesha launches AFRO ARCHIVES this Friday.

To round off our Female Friday, new volunteer Ayesha Casely-Hayford hosts Afro Archives. This show not only an opportunity to showcase all about black women, afro hair, and discrimination, but also to express and challenge the daily issues for black women in the modern day because of their hair. On her new show, Ayesha said, “Wandsworth has always been a pioneer for black women’s voices. In the early 1980s there were exhibitions at the BAC of Black and Asian women artists challenging their collective invisibility in the art world and engaged with the social, cultural, political aesthetic issues of the time.

As I have a law background and specialise in discrimination, I have plenty of ideas about the debate on race discrimination in connection to hair. It’s never been discussed in the UK courts, I hope one day it will be. Perhaps Wandsworth Radio can be part of the movement.”
Afro Archives launches this Friday 2 March from 3pm.
Wandsworth Radio is excited to continue to celebrate women, and indeed anyone from any background and, as can be seen from our varied and diverse programming, we are happy to serve such a diverse and wonderful borough. We hope that can continue throughout the year and the future.
