Beth Ashmead Latham
Beth reads the news at Wandsworth Radio. She joined in late 2017 after a year of travelling in Central and South America. After years as policy specialist, she’s becoming a journalist. While away, she worked in a Nicaraguan Radio Station, and Ecuadorian TV channel. She loved this but is now enjoying the ease of working in a language where she’s fluent, with excellent people, in a borough with so much going on.
Being born in urban East London, and raised in rural East Yorkshire, makes her in equal parts a city lover and country hiker. Wandsworth was the first place she lived when returning to London as an adult, because it appealed to both of these sides of her.
The first thing she loved about Wandsworth was its wide open spaces. They fostered in her a love of running which has lasted her whole twenties and well into her thirties. Now living in North London, she regularly runs back to Wandsworth on her long runs, drawn to its commons, parks, and beautiful bridges.
She loves what she’s learning at Wandsworth Radio, and the way all of the volunteers share their wealth of skills and knowledge. What she loves most, though, are the fantastic local people and their fascinating local stories.
